Exercise Routines Getting your heart rate up through an exercise routine such as running, biking, or swimming is a great way to lose 20 pounds. If running is your choice of aerobic exercise, try starting out your routine by walking fast then increasing your speed to a quick few minutes of jogging, then decrease your speed back to a slower pace. Repeat this routine for a period of 30 minutes each morning or every other morning.
